About us

Why choose our candles?

Our candles are not only 100% pure beeswax, but we get our wax directly from the beekeepers themselves!

From picking up the wax, to cleaning it, to hand pouring each candle, everything is done in-house with no shortcuts. And the finishing touch: the hemp wick to ensure the cleanest burn possible with lowest environmental impact.

Our air should be clean, free from harmful toxins and chemicals. I created Big Bee Candle with the goal of creating the cleanest candle available, with no fillers, artificial fragrances, or chemicals. It’s just 100% Pure Beeswax & Organic Hemp, 100% of the time.

Burning Instructions

Always burn a candle on a fire resistant surface. Never leave an open flame unattended.

Pillars

The first burn on a pillar candle is the most important. A general good rule to follow is that you’ll need to give it at least 1hr of burn time for every inch in diameter the candle is. We recommend at least a 3-4 hour initial burn for all of our pillar candles. For best results, always trim the wick to ¼” before each burn and let the candle burn for 2-3 hours at a time. We recommend extinguishing using a wick dipper to prime the wick for the next use.

Tapers

Our Signature and Coil Tapers burn for approximately one hour per inch of length. Our Braided Taper is designed for shorter burns to maximize the burning time. To prevent excessive dripping, keep away from any area where a draft may occur (windows, fans, under vents, etc.). Always burn in fire resistant holders. Never leave an open flame unattended.

Honeycomb

Treat our Honeycomb candles like our Pillars. Trim wick to ¼” and allow for a 3 hour initial burn. For best results, always trim the wick to ¼” before each burn and let the candle burn for 2-3 hours at a time. We recommend extinguishing using a wick dipper to prime the wick for the next use.

Mini Beehives

Our Mini Beehives act similarly to tealights. Trim to ¼” and burn as desired. Always burn in fire resistant holders. Never leave an open flame unattended.

Tips for Better Candle Burning

After your initial burn on our Pillar or Honeycomb candles, we recommend “hugging” the candle to prevent tunneling. Once extinguished, gently press the warm sides inward toward the center. This helps create a more even burn, extends the life of your candle, and minimizes any leftover wax when the wick is finished.

For our Pillar or Honeycomb candles, we recommend using a wick dipper to extinguish the flame. You gently take the end of the dipper and place the wick in the melted wax pool. This will prime your wick with beeswax for the next time you burn it, making it easier to light.

Our Signature and Coil Tapers are designed for long burns. The Braided Taper is designed for shorter burns. If you choose to burn the Braided Taper for longer periods, be prepared for wax dripping.
